A 2-day training on sexual health concepts, education, and impact for community members in Boston.
Let’s TACO Bout Sex, a 2-day training offered by ABCD Health Services and co-designed and facilitated by Joanna Gattuso, aims to build capacity among members of the Boston community to support the sexual health and wellness of youth and young adults in their community. Together, a dynamic group of youth workers, doulas, facilitators, and educators spent two days discussing sexuality, stigma, reproductive justice, sex positivity, and trauma-informed care for young people seeking sexual health services.
A training co-designed with Chrislene DeJean for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Sexual Health and Youth Development
“Some participants today will be learning something new, and others will be reminded of their ancestry, their own family’s health history. Our legacies each show up differently when we talk about history. Part of our work as health workers, educators, counselors and facilitators, is to understand the history we bring to our classroom, our counseling room, or our positions of leadership. To do that, we must use our heads to understand. And we must use our hearts to feel what these legacies mean.”
A collaboratively-designed training offered at a local youth-serving non-profit.
“Imagine yourself in a not-so distant future. You’ve just landed in your time machine, cracked open the door, and you’re just getting steady on your feet. You look around. In this future, queer and trans youth are thriving. How do you know? How can you tell they are free? How do you see them nurtured?
In this near future, how will our communities be organized? How are queer and trans people treated? How do we get our needs met? How do we handle conflict and communicate with one another?”
